Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Richmond Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact the operators, the message and any details in it are used to respond and to handle the request.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser details, pages viewed, and time stamps. These logs help with security, fault finding, and aggregate traffic measurement. Cookies or similar tools may also support basic analytics or advertising measurement when those services are present.
How Information Is Used
Data is used to operate, protect, and improve the reference, answer messages, and understand broad page use. The operators do not sell a visitor list or build a personal profile from ordinary site visits.
Links and Sponsored Results
Pages link to county and state record portals, libraries, archives, and third-party search tools. Once a link is followed, the destination's own privacy policy controls the information submitted there. That includes the sponsored results displayed through a third-party provider.
Service Providers
Hosting and technical providers may process ordinary server logs to keep the pages available. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it. It is not disclosed for unrelated purposes.
Security and Retention
Connections use encryption in transit, and logs are retained only for the operational or security need that calls for them. There are no Richmond Residents Directory accounts, passwords, or user profiles stored on the reference for an attacker to access.
Children Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. The operators do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent information may use the Contact page to request its removal.
California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, is codified at Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections. Depending on the person and the data involved, it can provide rights to know or access, correct, delete, limit certain sensitive-personal-information use, and opt out of sale or sharing, subject to exceptions. Because Richmond Residents Directory keeps little visitor data, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and available server logs.
Use the Contact page for a privacy request. Government records remain with their custodians. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000, governs access to many public records, but it does not give this private reference control over a Contra Costa deed, court file, voter record, or city permit.
Policy Changes
When the practices or legal notices change, the revised policy will be posted here. Continued use after the new text appears means the updated policy applies to later use.
